Instructions

To make the cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing until each is fully incorporated. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in two batches, alternating with the milk and vanilla. Divide the batter evenly between the two cake pans.
