Ingredients

Making a delicious yellow cake doesn't have to be difficult. This recipe is simple to make, yet moist and flavorful. All you need is the following:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup white sugar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour one 9x13 inch pan.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool cake in pan.

In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup sugar. Sprinkle over the top of the cooled cake. Serve and enjoy!
