For the cake, you will need the following ingredients: 4 large eggs, 1 and 1/4 cups of granulated sugar, 1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 1/2 cup of buttermilk, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, and 3 tablespoons of Matcha powder. For the frosting, you will need: 8 ounces of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 2 and 1/2 cups of confectioners’ sugar, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of Matcha powder.
Instructions
To make the cake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two 8-inch round cake pans with butter and line with parchment paper. Finally, stir in the Matcha powder. Divide the batter evenly between the two cake pans. Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes comes out clean.
To make the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy. Slowly add the confectioners’ sugar and mix until combined. Add the vanilla extract and Matcha powder and mix until light and fluffy. Spread a layer of frosting on one of the cake layers, then top with the second cake layer.
