Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- In a measuring cup, combine the buttermilk and lemon juice. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk mixture to the creamed mixture, beating just until incorporated.
- Divide the batter in half. Add yellow food coloring to one half and orange food coloring to the other half, stirring until the desired color is achieved.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans, alternating between yellow and orange. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Spread cream cheese frosting between the layers and over the top and sides of the cake.
